This week the children have been noticing lots of litter and rubbish on their way into nursery. The children decided they wanted to help. "Why don't people put the rubbish in the bin, I do and I am 3". The children wore high viz jackets and collected 3 bags full of rubbish and put it in the Nursery bin.

Today some children noticed that the allotment looked different. They found that the potatoes are growing taller, the strawberries are beginning to change colour from green to red and that the lettuce is ready to pick. Do you have an allotment or grow any of your own fruit and vegetables? We would love to hear about it.

The wet weather at the beginning of the week helped to refresh our garden. Early in the morning some of the children were able to spot lots of snails hidden camouflaged between wet leaves and under wet logs. The children carefully observed the snails and talked about what they already knew about snails. The children quickly began to count the snails and soon they talked about how many there were, guesses to how many they might find and recounts as more snails were added. They compared size, colour, pattern and speed.
